A member of the American Conference of Cantors, Shira is thrilled to guide you through all life-cycle events. She specializes in leading couples through the wedding process, and focuses on the sanctity and spiritual uplifting of marriage as symbolized by being together under the chuppah. As a full and ordained member of Jewish clergy, Shira utilizes the traditional Jewish wedding rituals, liturgy and symbolism as a stepping off point to create meaningful and personalized wedding experiences unique to each couple. As a Cantor, Shira brings her extensive knowledge of liturgy, experience, and celebrated warm mezzo-soprano with her under each chuppah. Shira is happy to meet with Jewish, interfaith, gay, lesbian and transgender couples alike to create weddings of joy, sanctity and beauty. Shira specializes in destination weddings, and while conveniently based in Manhattan, Shira is happy to travel for your wedding. Born and raised in Troy, NY on her family’s dairy farm as a second-and-a-half generation Holocaust survivor in an extraordinarily tight knit family, Shira has a multi-dimensional, interdenominational history, with personal experience of all Jewish practices from which to draw. There is nothing more precious in this world to her than her family, and nothing more thrilling than helping you sanctify your new family under the wedding canopy.
